Mighty Mouse

Who said that a mouse cannot have super powers? Superman met his match in Mighty Mouse when the character was created by Izzy Klein around the time of World War II. Originally, the animation was for a housefly but the concept did not sit well with Paul Terry, the man behind Terrytoons studio of 20th Century Fox. After throwing the idea into the trash can, Terry came up with an idea of using a mouse. It is intended to be a parody of Superman and Terry even thought of using Super Mouse as the name for the character. Since another Super Mouse was brought to life by Marvel Comics, Terry decided to change the name into Mighty Mouse.

Like Superman, Mighty Mouse was first seen in blue tights and red cape but that changed into yellow and red after few airings. Aside from the costume, the character took some of Superman’s powers as well. Mighty Mouse can fly and is unbelievably strong. However, he surpassed the Man of Steel since he does not faint or swoon or whatever it is that Superman does whenever he comes face to face with Kryptonite. Also, Mighty Mouse can control inanimate objects and on top of that, he can turn back time. Try beating that Superman!
